Plan a visit
We'll save you a chair.
Your first visit asks nothing of you. Come, watch, eat, and speak only if the mood takes you. Most of us started exactly this way.
Your first night
What to expect
Do I have to speak?
No. Visitors are welcome to simply watch. The chair will greet you by name at the start and that's the only spotlight you'll get, unless you'd like to join the icebreaker, which is entirely up to you.
What does it cost?
Visiting is free; you just buy your own dinner and drinks at the bar. If you later decide to join, there's a modest annual membership through SA Rostrum; Malcolm, our membership manager, can walk you through it.
What should I wear?
Whatever you'd wear to dinner at a pub. There is no dress code. We're there to speak, not to be seen.
How does dinner work?
Order at the bar when you arrive and the kitchen brings meals out during the dinner break, so the whole table eats together. The conversation over dinner is half the reason people keep coming.
Do I need to book?
A quick note ahead of time helps us save you that chair and warn the kitchen, but if a Wednesday suddenly frees up, just come. Nobody has ever been turned away.
I'm nervous about public speaking. Is that a problem?
It's the whole point. Nearly everyone at the table joined because speaking made them nervous. You'll find no audience in Adelaide more on your side than this one.

Leave your name and an email or phone number. A quick note helps us save you a seat and warn the kitchen.
