Visitors
Come and sit in
The best way to meet Rostrum is to watch a meeting from the inside. No booking needed — though a quick email ahead means we'll save you a seat and a menu.
When
1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, 6:00pm — we're done by mid-evening.
Next meeting: Wednesday 15 July 2026, 6:00pm at Metropolitan Hotel, Grote Street — Show and Tell Night, chaired by Maureen Bourke.

Usually the Metropolitan Hotel, Grote Street, Adelaide — check the program for the odd night we move.
Dinner
We meet at a pub for a reason. Order your meal at the bar when you arrive and it lands during the dinner break, when the club eats together.
Your first night
- 1
Arrive about 5:45
Say hello, order dinner at the bar, find a seat — someone will look after you.
- 2
Be welcomed, then relax
The chair welcomes visitors near the start. After that, you're an audience member — watch the speeches, enjoy the debate, eat well.
- 3
Speak only if you want to
Nobody is made to speak. If you're keen, say so — there's often room in an icebreaker. Plenty of members watched first and spoke later.
Fair questions
Do I have to speak?
No. Visitors are guests, not conscripts. You'll be welcomed by name and then left to enjoy the night. If you'd like a taste, ask about the icebreaker — it's short and gentle.
What does it cost to visit?
Nothing — just your own dinner and drinks if you'd like them. If you later decide to join, we'll walk you through membership on the night.
I'm nervous about public speaking. Is that a problem?
It's the whole reason the club exists. New members start with short, well-supported speeches — four minutes, friendly room, warning bell — and stretch out at their own pace with a coach's feedback each time.
Can I bring someone?
Please do. Half our members first came along as somebody's plus-one.
Say hello first, if you like
A short email means a saved seat and a warmer welcome — or just turn up on the night. Either works.
